Advanced Nutrition & Wellness
Advanced Nutrition students are excited to build on prior knowledge from the Nutrition and Wellness class. They learn new cooking techniques and recipes that they can adapt or use in the future. The students also have more responsibility and are able to give recipe ideas for a particular lesson. We study ServSafe Food Handler information and volunteer at Second Helpings Hunger Relief Kitchen in Indianapolis once a month.

Thanks to a sweet student who had a little help from his mom.
Chef Dom from Sullivan University presented a life skills lesson and then taught my students how to make a S’more Crepe! One lucky student from each class got to use the blow torch! #lovefacs
Food Waste Project 2019: With the help of our SHS Cafeteria staff, we rescued 60 bananas, 20 apples and 20 oranges from the trash. Advanced Students prepared Banana Muffins, Apple Muffins and Crepes with Orange Sauce for staff members.
We hope to continue this less-waste practice and save more food here at SHS!
